Retno is MantaWatch’s Sustainable Fisheries Assistant and specialises in stakeholder outreach and education. An alumnus of MIP-2016, Retno holds B.Sc. Marine Biology from Padjadjaran University. In affiliation with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences, her undergraduate thesis aimed to optimise biofuels derived from micro-algae. She is a PADI Advanced Open Water diver, and an awardee of the 2018 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Sea and Earth Advocates (SEA) Camp in Bohol, Philippines. Together with our Sustainable Fisheries team, and supported by the Conservation Leadership Programme, Rufford Foundation and National Geographic Society, Retno is working to reduce mobulid ray bycatch in small-scale fisheries.
