Meet the MantaWatch Alumni

Williem Hartono is a B.Sc. Marine Science student at the Univeristy of Padjadjaran. His interests include designing innovative approaches to educate and inspire coastal communities to manage their local marine resources. He is currently planning his undergraduate research, and hopes to study the environmental factors influencing manta cleaning behaviour.

Riza has a B.Sc. Fisheries Science from Bogor Agricultural Institute, Indonesia. Tami successfully completed MIP-2014, and is currently completing her undergraduate thesis on the identification of corals using molecular biology, as part of her B.Sc. Marine Science at the University of Padjadjaran.

Divo holds a B.Sc. Marine Biology from the University of Indonesia. His undergraduate thesis examined methods for surveying coral reefs. After successfully completing MIP-2015, Divo developed a training module and materials on underwater photography that was launched successfully during MIP-2016. Lucia successfully completed MIP-2015. She is currently preparing her undergraduate thesis at the University of Indonesia on the spatial and temporal dynamics of phytoplankton in Likupang, North Sulawesi, and is the Social Media Coordinator for ScubaDiver AustralAsia magazine.

Anindita earned a B.Sc. Marine Science from the University of Padjadjaran (UNPAD), Indonesia. I am an undergo undergraduate student from IPB University majoring Marine Science and Technology. I conduct my final project about the use of metabarcoding eDNA for searching biogeography and relative abundance of endemic species walking shark Halmahera. I have strong interest in conservation, specifically elasmobranch conservation for sharks and rays.

Satria graduated from Bogor Agricultural Institute with a B.Sc. Fisheries Science. He is currently the Technical Service and Sales Executive for PT Sinta Prima Feedmill, where he supports sustainable, small-scale aquaculture producers in Sumatra. He occasionally conducts coral and fish surveys for the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

Dharmo earned his B.Sc. Marine Science and Technology from Bogor Agricultural Institute. After successfully completing MIP-2014, Dharmo founded MoAerial, a company that specialises in aerial video and mapping using drones and whose projects include marine and coastal surveys for Indonesias Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and NGOs.

After successfully completing MIP-2014, Ayu graduated from Bogor Agricultural Institute with a B.Sc. Fisheries Science. She is currently the Responsible Marine Tourism Assistant for WWF-Indonesia, where she has helped to develop and promote responsible tourism practices including creating manta ray watching guidelines that have now been published by Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
