The successful candidates will join MantaWatch for four weeks, working at a field site in Indonesia under the close supervision of the Research Director. They will receive tuition in manta ray and elasmobranch ecology and management, and training in monitoring and scientific diving techniques. Working alongside MantaWatch staff and partners, they will gain experience of standard field techniques, experimental design, sampling protocols, environmental monitoring, scientific diving, and the role of citizen scientists in conservation management.

MantaWatch interns play a key role within the team, while gaining valuable experience of managing and analyzing large datasets generated by MantaWatch members around the world. Interns will work with MantaWatch staff to communicate research findings, including via the preparation of scientific papers.

This internship is an opportunity to work within an international research and conservation organization, and to interact with professional marine scientists, while gaining valuable practical experience to support graduate studies in marine science.
