While the others spent the day in the classroom analysing data, Tami, Dhanmo and I went out to do manta surveys.
Our day started at 7am when we met divemasters Juvens and Claire and their guests at Divine Diving. We went straight to Karang Makassar and Manta Point to search for mantas.
As usual there was a dive briefing before the dive, and of course the MantaWatch team also gave a manta briefing to the guests. Dhanmo and Tami did a great job, even answering some difficult questions and earning applause at the end!
Then we had a chance to put our briefing to the test, when we found 4 mantas underwater! But our luck didn’t stop there, as we also saw a giant barracuda! A great dive for everybody on the boat that day.
Next we went to Siaba Besar. Personally I love this dive site because the first time I dived here I found lots of turtles and cuttlefish. Today this site did not disappoint, and we found one cuttlefish, as well as two turtles and a bamboo shark to record in our eco-logbooks.
And the excitement did not end there. Today was the first time that Dhanmo and Tami had a chance to visit Rinca and see the Komodo dragon! A great day of new experiences for all three of us!
