Muhammad Ichsan

Ichsan earned his M.Sc. Conservation Biology from the University of Queensland, Australia and B.Sc. Marine Science from the University of Padjadjaran (UNPAD), Indonesia. Drawing on the experiences he gained during MIP-2012, Ichsan successfully submitted his undergraduate thesis on the environmental factors influencing the temporal distribution of manta rays in Komodo National Park, Indonesia. He founded the Independent Marine Protected Animals Community (IMPACT), an UNPAD student community for the discussion and advancement of marine conservation science and communication. While working as a Shark Researcher with Shark Diving Indonesia his work was featured in WWF-Indonesia’s Shark and Manta Ray Symposium 2015 and he co-authored the Identification Guide to the Marine Species of North Maluku. Ichsan is currently developing a project to investigate fishing gear modifications and mobulid ray bycatch reduction within Indonesia’s small-scale fisheries.
